What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art and environmental science of placement and design. It is based on thousands of years of practical application and observation of the way energy flows within a space and how it impacts the individuals working and residing there. The energy is influenced by many factors. Energy flow is affected by color, shapes, lighting, room design and location and furniture placement. Emotional and physical conditions (i.e. health, life circumstances, the previous occupants, etc.) can also affect the energy of our environment. Geophysical Stress such as underground water streams, fault lines and technological devices can also create energetic disturbances in your living or work spaces. The Chinese believe that if there is a positive energy flow the occupants will enjoy good health, financial success and fulfilling relationships.

Whether you are considering buying or selling a home/business the Feng Shui will affect potential buyers and future experiences in your new place. Utilizing some simple Feng Shui principles you can change the energy to benefit you. To create a positive energy flow you want to determine how the space is affecting you. If you are feeling stuck, experiencing low energy levels and low moods, then the energy is too low or “yin”. Adding bright colors, plants and a water fountain can activate the energy. If on the other hand, your life is chaotic and you are always on the go and “doing” then the energy is too active or “yang”. Adding pastel colors, serene artwork/pictures or a fish tank can smooth the energy. Creating an environment that brings in these natural elements attracts opportunities and a sense of well being.
